Amed Rosario Reportedly Traded to Yankees, Nationals Get Clayton Beeter, Prospect

Amed Rosario

The New York Yankees traded for utility man Amed Rosario in a swap with the Washington Nationals on Saturday, according to Jack Curry of YES Network.

The Nationals received pitcher Clayton Beeter and outfield prospect Browm Martinez in the deal, per Curry.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported earlier on Saturday that Rosario "makes sense" for the Yankees, giving them more infield help.

The 29-year-old hit .270 with five home runs and 18 RBIs across 46 games with the Nationals this season.

Rosario has particularly excelled against left-handed pitching throughout his career, owning a .299/.333/.483 slash line against lefties in 2025 while slashing just .230/.277/.344 against right-handers.

He's played at multiple infield spots throughout his nine-year MLB career but spent 24 games at third base this season, a position that the Yankees are looking for some consistency at.

New York already made a move to address the issue, trading for former Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon on Friday.

Rosario should serve as a versatile depth piece that could occasionally start against southpaws, as McMahon only owns a .599 OPS against left-handed pitching this season.

Washington came away from Saturday's trade with Beeter, New York's No. 20 prospect (via MLB.com). The 26-year-old has spent the majority of the year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, owning a 3.54 ERA and recording 33 strikeouts to go along with 16 walks in 20.1 innings of work.

As for Martinez, he hit three home runs in 18 games during the 2025 Dominican Summer League.
