Mets Reportedly Among MLB Teams to Make Trade Call on White Sox's Luis Robert Jr.

The New York Mets are among "many teams" to call the Chicago White Sox regarding a possible trade for outfielder Luis Robert Jr., per Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
Robert, who turns 28 years old on Aug. 3, is hitting .206 (.636 OPS) alongside 10 home runs and 41 RBI. He's stolen 26 bases and scored 37 runs.
The six-year veteran got off to an ice-cold start, but he's been hot lately, hitting .341 (1.011 OPS) over his last 13 games. He's amassed three home runs and 10 RBI while scoring 11 runs and stealing four bases.
Robert's contract includes club options for 2026 and 2027 at $20 million apiece. Although he's fared well of late, it's difficult seeing his next team pick up that option unless he has a phenomenal finish to the season.
After an All-Star campaign in 2023, which saw Robert hit 38 home runs and earn a Silver Slugger award, Robert has hit just .216 (.649 OPS) in 184 games over the past two seasons.
Still, Robert has certainly shown great power in the past, and his speed is still evident. It's certainly possible a competing team that needs an outfielder adds Robert down the stretch in hopes this recent hot streak continues into the dog days of summer and perhaps the fall.
As for the Mets, they've already made one big move before Thursday's trade deadline, adding left-handed relief pitcher Gregory Soto from the Baltimore Orioles.

We'll see if anything comes to fruition, but for now, New York is a team to watch here for Robert. The interest has been reported by numerous sources, including Bob Nightengale of USA Today in an interview with Mets YouTuber Tyler Wardy.

There appears to be much competition for Robert, per Heyman, although it's certainly possible the outfielder lands in Queens by Thursday evening.
