Breanna Stewart Out After Suffering Lower Leg Injury in Liberty vs. Sparks

New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart left her team's home game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday after she suffered a lower leg injury.
Stewart played the three first-plus minutes. With the Libs up 9-8 early in the first quarter, Stewart was running back on defense before she slowed up and started walking gingerly. She then raised her arm to be taken out of the game.
Breanna Stewart was been ruled out for the rest of the game with what the Liberty are calling a lower leg injury.

Breanna Stewart pulls up grimacing after running back in transition defense, and the Liberty take a timeout. She immediately walks up the tunnel with trainer Terri Acosta.

Kennedy Burke entered the game for Stewart with 6:33 left in the opening quarter. Marine Johannes started for Stewart in the second half.
Stewart entered Saturday averaging 19.0 points on 46.9 percent shooting, 6.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. She leads the defending WNBA champions in scoring, blocks and steals, and she's second in rebounds and third in assists.
Stewart is playing in her ninth WNBA season and already has a host of accolades that should easily land her in the Basketball Hall of Fame someday, including three WNBA championships, seven WNBA All-Star nods, six All-WNBA First Team honors and two WNBA MVP awards.
Needless to say, the Liberty need Stewart back ASAP, especially with the team making a charge for a title once again. Currently, New York is 16-8 and second in the WNBA standings.
Hopefully Stewart's injury isn't serious, and she's able to get back to the court shortly.
As for the game, the Liberty fell behind by as many as 15 points but charged back to tie this one up in the fourth quarter thanks largely to Sabrina Ionescu (30 points, eight rebounds, six assists, four steals) and Natasha Cloud (22 points, nine assists). However, Sparks forward Rickea Jackson (24 points) hit a game-winning, buzzer-beating layup to seal a 101-99 Sparks win.
